Lucky Chan -Dim sum and Sushi Parlour is the country’s first restaurant to have a Sushi Belt
BY NAMITA GUPTA
If you’re an avid traveller and a food lover, you would have definitely dined at one of the popular outlets with a sushi belt. And now you can save a trip overseas if you’re craving a quick sushi, sashimi or nigiri. For those who don’t know what we’re talking about, can try this newest eatery in town – one of a kind Dim sum and Sushi bar, called Lucky Chan in Indiranagar, serving essentially Japanese and Chinese cuisine.
Interiors: The 100-cover restaurant is spread over 4000 sq ft of chic and refreshing interiors, designed by ace designer Shruti Jaipuria, who has designed some of the coolest hotspots in Bangalore and around. Lucky Chan has four seating options from al fresco, regular indoors, Japanese seating for eight, and the first of its kind barstool seating around the unique conveyor belt for sushi and cold serves.
Drinks: There is a well-stocked wine and sake cellar, and a range of craft beers to choose from. An extensive wine and beer cocktail menu boasts of innovative specialities like Foams of Beer and Molecular Sangrias. Specialty teas top off the beverage choices.
Food: The exhaustive menu boasts of salads and soups, nibbles (small plates), almost 40 varieties of dimsums across steamed, pan seared, fried, and baked sections including the soupy and Cheun Fun dumplings, Sashimi, Nigiri, Maki rolls and a unique customisable meal-in-a-bowl section in options of rice or noodles. If you’re a seafood lover, do try their Marble Prawn dim sum. The Salmon Sashimi is also delightful. Although my sushi cravings were satiated, I realised I could not help reaching out for one more. After all, there’s always room for sushi. They have vegan and gluten free options as well. We loved their meal-in-a-bowl, that was served in a stone bowl and had sticky rice, seafood tossed with chilli basil sauce. Simple, flavourful and delicious. Try their signature fortune cookie cheesecake, chocolate peanut butter bar, a dramatic chocolate piñata sundae or the unique mochi ice cream in many flavours for desserts.
Man behind the Making: Amit Ahuja, the owner of the restaurant, states, “Lucky Chan is soon going to emerge as the mecca for Dimsums and Sushi, and one can indulge to their hearts content as an endless stream will be available, especially while sitting around the only sushi conveyor belt in India”. Amit has already established his AA Hospitality brand with The Open Box, MISU, a cool pan-Asian diner and is now looking to capture the Asian delivery market with a new brand that is currently work in progress and will launch in the second quarter of 2020.
