US President Donald Trump has nominated Rita Baranwal an Indian-American woman to head the US nuclear energy division. The nomination if approved by the Senate, Rita will be an assistant secretary of energy responsible for nuclear technology research and development.
She is currently the Director of the Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear initiative. Rita acquired her BA in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT and PhD from the University of Michigan.She stated that the US nuclear industry is equipped to lead the world in deployment of innovative nuclear technologies and to supply abundant clean energy domestically and globally.
