India secures the 139th spot out of 149 countries in the list of UN World Happiness Report 2021. In the year 2019, India ranked 140th.
The World Happiness Report for the year 2021 has been released by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Finland has been crowned as the world’s happiest country. The report is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness that ranks 149 countries by measuring how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be.This year, it also focussed on the effects of Covid-19 and how people over the world have fared.
The annual report gauges the ranking of nations by taking into consideration gross domestic product per person, healthy life expectancy as well as the opinion of residents. Surveys are given to people for their opinion on a scale of 1-10, to indicate how much social support they feel they get if something goes wrong. It is done to evaluate how governments all over the world are dealing with the pandemic.
Finland has been ranked as the happiest country for the fourth consecutive year followed by Iceland, Denmark, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Norway. Pakistan is in the 105th place, Bangladesh ranks 101st while China ranks 84th.
