Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while speaking at the 150th year celebrations of a girls school, said that schools should prepare girls to take up a career in the armed forces. She wanted a change in the school curriculum of Tamil Nadu and wanted it to be more dynamic.

She said she wanted to see girls joining the Rashtriya Military Academy, the Short Service Commission and ultimately join the Army, Navy and Air Force. She said that earlier there were many more people from the State who used to crack the Civil Service exams but now that number has drastically come down.
