Pavan Davuluri, an alumni of IIT Madras has been appointed as the new head of Microsoft Windows. He joins the band of Indians in the big leadership role like Sundar Pichai from Google and Satya Nadella from Microsoft.
Pavan will take over the role of longtime product chief Panos Panay who quit and joined Amazon. Earlier, Pavan headed the Surface group and Mikhail Parakhin headed the Windows department. After Parakhin also quit the company, Pavan has taken over as head of the Windows department as well.
Pavan has put in more than 23 years of service at Microsoft and was involved in its work with Qualcomm and AMD to create processors for Surface.
The Windows team will continue to work closely with the Microsoft AI team on AI, silicon and experiences.
