Vivek Sagar Prasad, member of India’s hockey team which won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, was honoured by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister with a DSP’s job, cash of Rs one crore and a house. The 21 year old is the son of a school teacher Rohit Prasad who migrated from Bihar to Madhya Pradesh in search of a job many years ago. The family still lives in a kachcha house in the village.
The Chief Minister also announced that Vivek’s parents would get a State government job at a place of their choice.
Vivek’s coach, Ashok Kumar who was the former technical adviser of the MP Hockey Academy and who discovered Vivek’s talent was also honoured at the event.
Earlier in the day, Vivek was given a hero’s welcome when he landed at the airport by sports lovers and the Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia.
