Summer is all about “less is more.” Be it stripes, florals, peekaboo sheer dresses, graphic bold prints on short skin-showing skater skirts, or the radical mix-and- match boho look, just remember to stay ahead with a no-holds- barred demeanour. If you dare to bare and want to send those mercury levels soaring further, then keep it effortless and casual. Fling a sheer slip with high slits in light fabrics over your shorts or ripped jeans for a chic layered look even during the hot months, or keep it simple with linen palazzos and flowy, flared long tops in quirky prints for an edgy look, or better still keep the comfort factor intact with throw-and- go spring-summer dresses that can last you through the monsoons. Take a cue from these savvy, au currant go-getters from Bengaluru, as they decode their summer staples with RITZ.

ANITHA KHOLAY, stylist and fashion designer who runs Anitha Kholay Studio in Koramangala, Bangalore, creates signature styles under her design label ‘Anitha Kholay’ and is also an award winning car rallyist.
Claim to fame: Anitha has been the designer and stylist for IPL cheerleader outfits for over six cricket teams each year for the past nine years, RCB being her favourite. She is also the first Indian woman to drive at an international rally and emerged as a winner of the RC5 category in the Malaysian Rally 2016. “I’ve also designed many costumes for dance festivals like the Latin and Salsa festivals,” shares Anitha.
Style statement and summer state of mind: “I like to dress up in loose fabrics like cotton, that can breathe. Comfort dressing is at the top of my mind this summer. Styling for the summer is very different this season as one can’t really go in for layering, smart jackets or high heeled boots. I work out every day, be it power yoga or at the gym to keep myself fit. My work wear at my design desk is usually a razorback vest or a simple tee with light or ripped denims, linen trousers or shorts with flip flops. Fashion to me comes without any rules. It’s all about feeling comfortable in my skin, and most importantly feeling confident. I like to dress up for all occasions and seasons appropriately. I have a good mix of high street brands, luxury brands and a lot of my own creations in my wardrobe. I like to keep accessories as minimal as possible, yet create a personal style statement,” states the go-getter entrepreneur with the trademark curly locks.
