For the first time, 50 chefs from Saravana Bhavan came together to prepare a 100-feet-long dosa in an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest dosa to be made in the world. The idea was curated by renowned chef and educationist, Dr.Vinoth Kumar who already holds five world records in the culinary field. The feat took place at IIT Madras on January 11(Friday). The team of chefs, all from Saravana Bhavan will be led by Dr.Vinoth Kumar. Many celebrities from across the state were a part of the event.
Currently, Hotel Daspalla, Hyderabad, holds the record for longest dosa to be made in the world. The dosa measures 16.68 m (54 ft 8.69 in) and the feat was performed in 2014. “Tamil Nadu is famous to the belief that serving food to others is a service to humanity. All the hotels have been serving dosa dish since generations and this is the best way to give back to the city. Tamil Nadu should be recognized for what it is best at,” said chef Vinoth.
Currently, 105 feet dosa pan is in the making in coordination with the engineering team of Saravana Bhavan and trials are going on for the big event. The per cursor of the event was held at Saravana Bhavan, Ekkattuthangal branch on Monday. Celebrities including Mrs. Sruthi Nakul, Actor pa Anand were a part of the event. Saravana Bhavan GM, Madan was also present.
