More than 1000 guest lecturers from across Tamil Nadu participated in a protest demanding increase in salary as well as regularisation of their services. The State Government had announced in the Assembly that a special exam would be conducted for them following which they would be eligible for job regularisation.
Right now they are paid Rs15000/. They have demanded that they be paid in accordance with the Seventh Pay Commission. They also asked for steps to be taken to ensure their job security.
