Originally, Grammy Awards 2022 was scheduled to take place on January 31 at the Crypto.com Arena with a live audience and performances. However, due to the Omicron variant of coronavirus, the Recording Academy has decided to postpone the event after consultation with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and their partners. It was decided that holding the event on January 31 involved too many risks.
Last year too, the event was postponed from January to mid-March and was held with a limited audience that comprised mainly nominees and their guests.
Jon Batiste is the leading nominee for this year’s honors with 11 nominations in genres like R&B, jazz, American roots music and classical. Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. are tied for the second spot with eight nominations each.
