The families of those who were killed along with Rajiv Gandhi met the Governor and submitted a petition not to release the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi case. They said that they had filed a petition in the Supreme Court and wanted the Governor to wait until the disposal of their plea.
According to them, all their families had suffered and already enough of humanitarianism was shown to the convicts. Their death penalty was commuted to life imprisonment. They asked the Governor to send a committee to study the sufferings of the 14 innocent victims families. Their petition against the release of the convicts was pending in the Supreme Court. They were of the opinion that terrorism should not be condoned.
