A small-scale trial of a drug for cancer has shown 100 % success in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in Manhattan, US in removing tumours and preventing recurrence in patients. This is supposed to be the first in the history of medical science.
The world may soon be able to get rid of cancer. The trial has been going on for 6 months and on a small scale but has brought hope that cancer can be removed completely without the need for chemotherapy or surgery.
The new drug was administered to 18 rectal cancer patients who recovered completely. These results are astonishing and has brought hope for billions of cancer patients in the world. However, the cost of the drug is said to be high as the trial doses cost nearly Rs 8.55 lakh per dose. Further trials are required before the drug is approved for mass use in future.
