Gokul Oottupura opens it’s fifth outlet in the city!

Amidst the blaring traffic and the busy bustle is a quiet retreat that is tucked away and yet, is right at the heart of the city.  One would never expect to find the familiar ‘Gokul Oottupura’ signage around Justice K T Koshy Avenue Road that leads up to the back entrance of the district court.

The recent addition to the group has, with their regular South Indian restaurant and coffee shop, an added bonus of nine traditional yet elegantly designed rooms on the first floor that overlooks the famous Ernakulathappan temple pond and the ancient Tank Shed Palace.  The hotel has retained the original structure that was built in the early 1900s. It has adopted a contemporary design with wooden tables and benches for seating. It has a small traditional nadumuttam with the image of Ganapathy painted on a stone Tulasithara.  “Going back to the roots, there is an increased awareness about the effects of fast food. We hope to win back the young crowd with traditional and healthy meals that would also be easy on their pockets,” says Shankar M Rao, the third generation of hoteliers. After Gopalakrishna Rao and Mohan Rao, presently, Shankar’s family along with his brother, Gopal and mother, Meena Mohan are managing the group.
