Zoya, the exquisite diamond boutique from the House of Tatas, introduced its new collection, Rooted — an exquisite lineup of over 45 pieces for the modern sophisticate. Seeking cues from the inner strength of the feminine spirit, and in keeping with Zoya’s deep commitment to fine design and impeccable craftsmanship, the stunning new collection was virtually launched by celebrated designer Gauri Khan. She was joined by Ajoy Chawla, CEO of Titan’s Jewellery Division, and Titan’s Chief Design Officer, Revathi Kant. RITZ Magazine spoke to Gauri Khan on her association with Zoya and her love for fine jewellery.
1. How do you associate yourself with brand Zoya?
As a designer and a creative person, I like things that are well crafted, that have a story to tell and have inspired design. This is what Zoya stands for and its why I have associated with them.
2. How big a jewellery connoisseur are you?
I enjoy jewellery. I think it adds a touch of glamour to any outfit and completes a look.
3. What is your kind of jewellery?
Usually I like tone on tone, but this collection is an exception. Its vibrant and colourful and I love it.
4. What kind of jewellery do you wear on an everyday basis?
It’s very minimal. One of my favourite pieces is a ring that my grandmother left me, and this I have with me everyday. You will find either on my finger or in my travel bag.
5. How often do you buy jewellery?
Not that often, but I think, today I will pick up one of the pieces from this collection.
6. What is this new collection all about that you would like to pick from?
Zoya’s Rooted is a collection about inner strength. It draws on motifs of the rainforest as a metaphor for all that is organic and resilient. These forests have stood tall for millions of years, against all challenges, and similarly the collection is a celebration of the capacity of the feminine spirit to be undaunted. It’s a very vibrant collection and uses beautifully cut and crafted stones like emeralds and pink and green tourmalines, peridots and yellow and blue sapphires. Its very exotic and feminine at the same time.
7. What was the first piece of jewellery that Shah Rukh gave you?
The first piece of jewellery Shah Rukh had gifted me was a beautiful bracelet.
