With temperatures soaring upto 44 and 45 degrees Celsius, France is currently reeling under a severe heat wave. About 4,000 schools have closed. Those schools that braved the heat and were kept open, worked to keep kids cool. Teachers have been abandoning suffocating classrooms and are keeping them outside in the shade and are sprinkling water on the children to keep them cool. They mostly have quiet activities in the shade. They are also allowed to go to the playground with books.
They are kept hydrated and the teachers take care that the students drink water at regular intervals. They are also made to dampen their caps. Many people have died due to the extreme heat. This is the first time that France is facing such high temperatures. Nursing homes are also doing their bit to take care of the elderly. The heat wave is also felt in other places in Europe.
