Four school girls all aged 16 years jumped into a well at Ramapuram in Vellore district. The reason for this was that they were upset after their teachers scolded them for securing low marks in their exams.The bodies of three girls have been recovered and that of the fourth girl remains missing.
Investigation revealed that all the girls were classmates and close friends and that they took the extreme step as they were asked to bring their parents to discuss about their poor performance. Their bodies have been sent for autopsy. A case has been registered and the School Head Mistress and teachers were interrogated. A search is now on for the body of the fourth girl. The Vellore Superintendent of Police and other senior police and revenue officials oversaw the rescue operations.
