Jaya Arunachalam the founder of the Working Women’s Forum in India was felicitated in the city yesterday. She started 14 branches and enrrolled over 6 lakh members in the movement. The members include silk weavers from Kanchipuram ,beedi rolling daily wagers as well as lacemakers.
Women greeted her and recalled their association with her. She helped the women to get loans to start their own units. She is happy that she has been able to empower women from the economically backward sections of society and said that she has achieved part of her dream.
