Former Union Minister, Jaswant Singh passed away after a long spell of illness at the age of 82. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top leaders paid rich tributes to the departed leader saying that he served India diligently and that he will be remembered for his unique perspective on matters related to politics and society.
He was a former Army Officer who fell ill after a fall in his home in August 2014. He was admitted to the Army Research the Referral Hospital for treatment. He kept going in and out of hospital. He was again admitted in June this year and was being treated for Sepsis and Multi organ Dysfunction System. He died of cardiac arrest and tested Covid negative. He was one of the founding members of the BJP and was instrumental in strengthening the party. He handled crucial portfolios in the BJP Ministry- finance, defence and external affairs.
