Former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will be temporarily joining Harvard University later this year. She has been appointed to dual fellowships at the Harvard Kennedy School. She will serve as the 2023 Angelopoulos Global Public Leaders Fellow and a Hauser Leader in the school’s Centre for Public Leadership.
Jacinda Ardern was only 37 years old when she became prime minister in 2017. Her decision to step down from her post shocked the people of New Zealand. She faced a lot of political pressure for certain issues including her handling of the coronavirus pandemic which was appreciated throughout the world but criticized by those who opposed mandates and rules.
Jacinda Ardern looks at the Harvard opportunity as a chance to learn and to share her experience with others. She plans to return to New Zealand after the fellowships.
