Bishen Singh Bedi, former India captain and spinner passed away on Monday at the age of 77. He was said to be ailing for the past two years and had undergone many medical procedures including a knee surgery about a month ago.
He is survived by his wife Anju, daughter Neha and son Angad.
Bedi played in 67 tests in a 12 year career spanning between 1967 and 1979 and was one of India’s most celebrated cricketers.He won the Padma Shri award in 1970.
He made his debut against Australia in 1969-1970 and finished the series with a huge haul of 23 wickets. His total haul of wickets in Test cricket is 266 and 7 wickets in One Day Internationals.. He is considered to be one of the greatest spinners of all time.
The BCCI is mourning the loss of Bishen Singh Bedi and posted its condolence message on social media.
