Tushar Arothe who was the former coach of the Indian women’s cricket team has been arrested for allegedly betting on an IPL match .He was arrested and granted bail later on said the Vadodara Police Commissioner Anoop Singh Gahlot . Eighteen others were also arrested by the City Crime Branch for betting on the IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Kings 11 Punjab played at Mohali. The accused were in a cafe where they were placing bets on the match.
Investigations revealed that the cafe which is located in the posh area of Alkapuri belonged to Mr Arothe. All the accused were booked under Section 4 and 5 of the Gambling Act. They were in contact with a person named Baba who used to take betting money.The said Baba is at large and is yet to be traced. The police have seized cash and other articles worth Rs 14 lakhs.
