The wife of former AIADMK MP R.Kulandaivelu has been stabbed to death in her residence at Besant Nagar. The 63 year old Rathinam Kulandaivelu was staying alone after the death of her husband a few years ago. The couple have 2 daughters and a son. The needle of suspicion points at the son Praveen who married a Polish girl and is settled in London. It is alleged that he came down to Chennai and demanded his share of the property from his mother. He threatened to kill her if she did not part with the property.
Rathinam immediately called her daughter Sudha and informed her about the incident. Even before Sudha could convey the message to her mother to take refuge in a relatives house nearby, the line got cut and Sudha could hear her brother threatening his mother. A relative from Thoraipakkam rushed to the spot only to find that Rathinam was murdered. He informed the police. Investigations are on to trace her son Praveen.
