Top tennis players Venus and Serena urged Wimbledon and the French Open to offer equal pay to male and female players way back in 2005. Venus while addressing a meeting said that all our hearts beat the same and with one’s eyes closed, it is not possible to tell if a man or a woman was next to you.
She asked people how they would like their daughters, sisters and wives treated.Their efforts were successful and Wimbledon announced that it would offer the same prize money to men and women in all rounds of the tournament. The French Open too followed suit and removed the gender discrimination.
