According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Elon Musk reached the milestone of having a personal fortune of more than $200 billion in January 2021. At that period of time, he trailed only Jeff Bezos of Amazon. He has now become the first person in history to have lost $200 billion of his net worth.
The recent decrease in Tesla shares made Musk’s net worth plummet to $137 billion. In November 2021, Musk became the richest person in the world after his net worth touched its peak at $340 billion. Now French business tycoon and co-founder of luxury goods powerhouse LVMH, Bernard Arnault has become the world’s richest person.
In October this year, Musk acquired Twitter for a sum of $44 billion and had to sell a portion of his Tesla shares to pay for the acquisition. The electric carmaker is no longer his biggest asset.
