After the pandemic this is the first Malayalam movie to reach the milestone inspite of the theatrical release
It has been a rough ride for the film industry ever since the pandemic began. The theatre releases have not been faring well due to the restrictions on seating in Cinema halls and the general fear induced by the pandemic. But things have changed for the better with Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’ releasing across theatres this month. The film has been produced by the actor himself under the banner of Wayfarer films. The film that released across the world in multiple languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi has been doing extremely well and has entered the 50 crore club in less than a week!
Dulquer took to his social media account to write, “Wow!! This is huge !!! I cannot even fathom it. The sleepless nights, the countless moments of uncertainty and self-doubt, the sheer amount of stress and pressure over going through uncharted territories has all paid off. When we set out we just wanted to give the film our best and pray you all love it. I have no idea how to put in words the gratitude I have for all of you.
Thank you for accepting us with open arms. Thank you for coming back to the theaters. Thank you for giving us so much love. This is not just mine or my te am’s win. This is a win for everyone. Let’s bring back more movies into theaters. Let’s get back to normal. Sending you all lots of love and gratitude to each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.” Theatre owners are now hopeful that things will look up with good films reaching theatres. Mohanlal’s Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham will reach theatres on December 2nd!
