The Duke of Edinburgh is celebrating his 99th birthday today at the Windsor Castle. The Buckingham Palace has released a new official portrait of Prince Philip and the Queen.
They have been under strict lockdown since March this year. His birthday will be a low key affair with just a birthday lunch with his wife Queen Elizabeth. They are expecting video calls from their children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. The couple has been married for 72 years and posed for a formal photograph in the quadrangle in the sunshine to mark the Duke’s milestone. The Duke is the longest serving consort in British history and also the oldest serving partner of a reigning monarch.
