A village in Andhra Pradesh has set a dress code for the women during the day. They are banned from wearing nighties during the day. A violation of the code could result in a fine of Rs 2000/.
The dress code was imposed by the village elders to ensure decency in public places. Some women had worn nighties to markets, schools and public places during the day. Hence a resolution was passed prohibiting women from wearing nighties from dawn to dusk. The women of Tokakapalli village have not protested against the decision. In fact they have welcomed it.
