Cappable is a social venture run by Soumya Tejam, a grade 11 student at TISB. It works towards creating better employment opportunities for people with disabilities. After successfully helping several such candidates find jobs, Cappable conducted the ‘Cappable Job Fair’ which saw a large number of organisations and candidates come together. The Cappable Job Fair covered a wide variety of skill sets ranging from software development to accounting. Soumya and her team are hoping to positively impact candidates across the country and enhance employment opportunities for the several millions of people with disabilities in India. In the past few months it has worked towards engaging small, medium and large companies with NGOs working directly with people with disabilities like Samarthanam, Enable India, Cheshire Homes and more. Through their efforts, Cappable has managed to arrange several interviews and help place candidates in different companies across Bengaluru. Along with generating employment opportunities, Cappable works on advocating disability-friendly accessibility measures on the web through the WCAG 2.0 guidelines and in office spaces. Cappable ultimately wishes to impact the 9 million literate and working age people with disabilities.
The first Cappable Job Fair saw over 50 people with disabilities looking for jobs engage with organisations like Doux Dentistry Private Limited, Euklid Brand Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Agilis Management Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Spark Career Mentors, ReWiser Educational Services, Handiman Services Ltd and more. Candidates from Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Bengaluru and Cheshire Homes India took part in the interviews that ranged from the fields of accounting to administration. Soumya and her team are hoping to positively impact candidates across the country and enhance employment opportunities for the several millions of people with disabilities in India through several more of such fairs.
