The WHO Director General warns of its spread especially in unvaccinated population

The Delta variant is a new variant of the Covid 19 virus that has been a cause of concern recently. Each time the virus is transmitted, it is also evolving and the latest version called the Delta virus is worrying health officials because it has been reported to be highly transmissible especially among the unvaccinated population.

WHO Director General Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the new variant has already been detected in 85 countries and is spreading rapidly. He said more cases means more hospitalisations, stretching the load on health workers and the infrastructure of health facilities, which eventually leads to more deaths. He said that we can prevent the transmission by using all tools available to fight the virus along with social measures in combination with increased vaccination.
