Valli of Uber Eats has been delivering food for the past two months. What is unique about her is that she takes her 18 month son along with her on her two wheeler as there is no one at home to take care of the kid. They do about 15 trips per day and Valli earns about Rs 700 per day except on rainy days. She covers her son with a muffler and sweater to protect him from the chill breeze and pollution.
To Valli, hunger is not something new. Her family struggled with poverty even when she was a kid and her family depended on her mother who worked as a maid in multiple homes washing dishes and cleaning floors. Her husband was at first not supportive of the idea but on seeing the confidence of Valli and noticing that the child was safe, he agreed to it. Valli carries home cooked meals for her son and feeds him in between the delivery trips.
