A woman from Delhi was arrested along with 3 others for allegedly trying to sell her one month old baby girl for a sum of Rs 2 lakh.
Two police personnel posed as decoy customers and struck a deal in order to nab the suspects and recover the baby. The accused have been identified as Praveen Khatoon, Santosh, Madhu Singh and Satish.
Madhu Singh is a resident of Uttam Nagar who planned to sell her baby and get money through brokers. After the police received information about this, they formed a raiding team and posed as a fake couple and approached the suspects to purchase the baby.
The suspects fell for the bait and got caught. Meanwhile the police seized their mobile phones and found that they contained many photographs of children. The police are now verifying the antecedents of the accused.
