The Delhi High Court has rejected a Public Interest Litigation filed by one Surjit Singh Yadav, a resident of Delhi claiming to be a farmer and a social worker. According to him, a Chief Minister who is accused of a financial scandal should not be permitted to continue in office.
The petition was heard by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora. The bench held that there was no bar in the law that prohibits an arrested Chief Minister from continuing in office. They further held that there was no scope for any judicial intervention.
Arvind Kejriwal is in ED custody that ends today and he will be produced before the city’s Rouse Avenue Courts later in the day.
