Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi skipped the third summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate regarding the Delhi excise policy case. He claimed that the summons was planned just before the 2024 general elections and was a deliberate attempt to hinder his election campaign.
The Aam Aadmi Party said that the Chief Minister was ready to cooperate with the Enforcement Directorate but claimed that the notice was illegal.
An individual can ignore an ED summons three times and it is now up to the ED to approach the court to get a non-bailable warrant compelling his appearance before a court. Failure to comply with the non-bailable warrant can lead to arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
Earlier in April, Kejriwal was questioned by the CBI for nine hours in connection with the case. He has two options, one to file for anticipatory bail and the second is to challenge the summons before a court.
