The Sanjay Leela Bhanshali film has Deepu in the role of the Rajput queen Padmavati and Ranveer as Alauddin Khilji, the Delhi sultan who falls in love with Padmavati. Shahid Kapoor is to essay the role of Raja Ratan Singh.
