A special court in Madhya Pradesh awarded death penalty for 2 rapists saying that they deserved no leniency. It is said to be the speediest trial and the Additional District and Sessions Judge sentenced the accused to death as the case fell under the rarest of the rare category.
The duo raped an 8 year old girl who was returning home from school. The little girl was abducted and later gangraped. The incident triggered widespread outrage and protesters demanded capital punishment for the culprits. The Court held that the act of the accused was cruel and gruesome and that they deserved no mercy whatsoever and that death penalty was the only way to punish them.
