Golu is the festive display of dolls and figurines during Navaratri. South Indians display beautiful doll decorations to celebrate Dasara, with most of them based on interesting themes narrating a legend from a Hindu text or a secular cultural issue. The golu display is also known as Kolu, Gombe Habba, Bommai Kolu or Bommala Koluvu.
These dolls are made by rural artisans from clay or wood or eco-friendly materials and then brightly painted are generally arranged in an odd number of padis (tiers) to tell a story. Here are some of the Dasara dolls displayed in Bengaluru.
