As the country grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation. He made a fervent appeal to all Indians to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid getting infected by coronavirus, saying the world has never seen a danger as grave as this.
He called for ‘Janta curfew’ which means a curfew for the public and by the public on March 22 between 7 am and 9 pm, saying no citizen, barring those in essential services, should get out of the house. Modi asked people not to panic and make panic buying. He enforced employees to take up work from home and asked them to stay indoors.
The Prime Minister also wants the nation to applaud at 5 pm that day the selfless work of essential services personnel.
