The Congress party claimed that the phones of three Opposition party leaders including Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi was hacked. Communications Chief Randeep Singh Surjewala made this statement while addressing a press conference.
He accused the government of spying on politicians, journalists and social activists. The Congress is toying with the idea to take legal action against the government. The issue will be taken up in Parliament and the Congress leaders will seek details from the government officials including the Home Secretary. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is planning to sue NSO group which is an Israeli surveillance firm, that is reportedly behind the hacking.
