A City Civil Court in Chennai has restrained South Indian Cineine and Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union from removing singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripada from the Union. She had filed a petition before the Second Assistant City Civil Court and prayed for interim orders. She said in her petition that the Association had taken a decision to expel her even though she had paid lifetime membership fees in 2006.
She claims that she was at the receiving end because of her participation in the #MeToo movement. She claimed that she was removed without any intimation hence it was illegal. The City Civil Court passed an interim order and directed the Union to file it’s reply by March 25th.
