A 40 year old woman in China named Nianan worked for a news agency for 15 years but experienced extreme stress due to the stressful nature of the job. Her parents stepped in to help her during this challenging period.
They then offered her a monthly allowance and Nianan took up the offer of a ”full-time daughter. Her daily routine was to spend one hour dancing with her parents, accompanying them on grocery trips, cooking dinner with them and organising monthly family outings or vacations.
This concept of being a ”full-time daughter” has gained popularity among young people in China due to the competitive job market and exhausting work schedules. However, it has not gained approval with some who feel that it perpetuates dependence on parents.
