With the northeast monsoon fast approaching, the Greater Chennai Corporation is taking steps on a war footing to deal with the threat of floods. It is reported that special teams have been formed for emergency response.

A team of more than 2000 workers have begun to check all electrical installations to prevent electrocution during the expected heavy rain. Rainfall is expected for 3 days in Chennai and control rooms have been set up in all the 15 zones. Residents can call the Corporation helpline 1913 to report civic issues during the monsoon.
Many teams have also been deployed to prune trees after receiving complaints from residents.
