Renowned designer Paresh Lamba brings a range of exciting and stylish Bandis. Originally known as the Achkan, the Bangal Bandi came into existence as early as the 2nd Century BC adorned by royals at the time for court sessions.

It took another name, “The Nehru jacket” when its popularity grew as the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru was seen frequently in the form fitting piece.

Today the short sleeved variant of the Nehruvian Jacket, single-breasted, hip-length form with Mandarin collar and five-six buttons is a rage in the Indian corporate and festive wear industry. It makes for a sophisticated, sharp yet rich ensemble, providing another option other than the trouser-and-shirt format. It is also perfect for the Indian weather conditions and is suitable for long work hours as it aids in free arm movement and hand gestures.

Styling the bandi creatively in its print or its pairings makes or breaks this style:

  1. This Multi colored Maharajah georgette printed bandi with velvet detail can be teamed up with a solid color kurta-pajama set to keep up the traditional richness.

  1. One of our favorites: the Black and beige crepe kathakali printed bandi with black pintuck yoke detail. This piece can be teamed with a classic all black set either a kurta-pajama or a shirt-trouser.

  1. Turkish motif tussar bandi with intricate stitch detail on collar. This bandi with a simple off white kurta and slim fit trouser will be a smashing hit.

  1. This Mustard heritage linen bandi is best spotted with a black shirt and white Jodhpur breech. Adding a pop of color to the pocket square gives a lift to the ensemble.

  1. A Navy, self printed 2 button velvet bandi can be paired with a classic white shirt and light colored chinos during the day and dark colored during the night.
