Chief Election Officer Satyabrata Sahoo requested people not to be influenced by money and to vote according to their conscience. He said that money power has been used in elections in Tamilnadu for the past 10 years and that there are accusations about cash distribution by various political parties. He explained about the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail machine(VVPAT) to be used for the first time in Lok Sabha elections in order to ensure free and fair elections.
The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail machine will have another machine added to the already existing one. After a person cast his vote there will be a print out on a form. This form also will be collected in boxes and in time of need they will also be counted.
