Cate Blanchett who is heading a Hollywood campaign against sexual harassment in the workplace will head the jury at this years Cannes Film Festival. She will have the honour of becoming the 12th woman to head the jury at Cannes which kick starts on May 8th.The Cannes President Pierre Lescure said that they are very pleased to welcome a rare and unique artist with talent and conviction.
The choice of Ms Blanchett is seen as politically charged after a year in which the sexual harassment scandal surrounding Harvey Weinstein surfaced. She was one of the first women to speak out against Mr.Weinstein.
She joined hands with over 300 top women in Hollywood including the likes of Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence to unveil the Times Up campaign to tackle the pervasive culture of sexual harassment at work.
