BO-TAI, modern Chinese Thai Bar & Grill is for those times when you want to indulge in your favourite Asian cuisine in a contemporary setting
BY NAMITA GUPTA
You’re sitting under a 200-year old Banyan tree, soaking in all the greenery around and sipping on a gorgeous looking round glass with pretty flowers and fruits swimming in a colourful cocktail and tucking into some delicious prawns. It’s times like this when you want to quite literally smell the roses and want want the world to stop. This is what you can expect at the newly opened Bo-Tai, a modern Chinese and Thai Bar & Grill, by MASSIVE RESTAURANTS.
Brains behind the beauty: Zorawar & Dildeep Kalra, the creators of Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra, Pa Pa Ya, Kode, Tygr, Younion, Made in Punjab and Farzi Cafe, have introduced another revolutionary culinary concept with Bo-Tai. The spunky verbal pun on ‘Bow-Tie’ is deliberate and represents both the style and flavour of Oriental cuisine. ‘Tai’, is the imperfect insinuation of the food philosophy. The man behind the sleek and chic interiors that embrace an al fresco ambience seamlessly is ace designer Ameet Mirpuri.
Ambience: In the heart of Bengaluru, on Vittal Mallya road, Bo-Tai at JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru exudes a casual, relaxed vibe offering plush green surroundings and dining under the skylines of the neighbouring Cubbon park. International decor, and showcases contemporary modern Chinese and Thai food and grills. The city’s new hotspot centres around a 200-year old overwhelmingly large fig tree, that transitions from a stylish dining spot, into a high energy bar as the night progresses.
Food: An extensive modern Chinese and Thai cuisine menu is what you’ll find here. Chef Sahil Singh has created a menu that stays true to authentic Thai and Chinese flavours with his signature modern twist. Some of the must-have innovative dishes include Braised Escallops of Lamb, Baked Avocado stuffed Crab Tartare and Pan Seared Scallops, Beijing Potatoes Burnt Chillis, Beijine Style Prawns, Braised meat balls with steamed Mantao Buns, Crispy Fried Snapper and Corn Curd Pepper Salt.
Drinks: What will make this new restaurant and bar on the block a clear winner, is its creative cocktail menu. An international team of superstar bartenders from London has conceptualised the bar concept, creating a signature cocktail list. Tying into the restaurant’s culinary concept, the cocktails reflect Thai and Chinese flavours with a modern twist. Some of the stellar signature cocktails we loved are Naga Fireball, Cool Heart, Full Moon festival and Macchanu Riddle.
