Birds flock in large numbers at a sanctuary near Bangalore

The serene environs near Mysore, with mangroves and the River Kaveri making a perfect habitat for nesting and breeding has attracted scores of migratory birds this year to Ranganathittu.

Egrets, white ibis, spoonbill, open-billed stork, painted stork, heron, kingfisher are some of the common species that migrate from as far away as Russia, Siberia and North America to Kaarnataka’s largest bird sanctuary.
