Shaheen Thaha shares his experience behind the camera while shooting with Mammootty
Ace photographer Shaheen Thaha has been waiting for thirteen years to work with superstar Mammootty. But he feels it has been worth the wait. Shaheen has been working with filmmaker Amal Neerad since when he shot for ‘Anwar’ starring Prithviraj. Over the years they have developed a special bond. “We started planning three months before the photoshoot. We got references based on the brief but it was during our second sitting (one week before the shoot) that we finalised the finer details about the costume and character.”
The shoot was done at Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty. “For me planning is very important for every shoot. It gives me a clear idea and focus, which makes things easier during shoot and yes above all, it is team work – the hair and makeup, costumes, styling, everything together adds up to the final product. It worked to my advantage that Amal Neerad already had a clear idea about every little detail be it the hair or costume,” says Shaheen.

When asked about how the experience was working with Mammootty, Shaheen is all smiles, “Awesome! Its been my dream to work with Mammookka. it took me 13 years but was worth the wait. I always hoped that when it happens, it should be something that is different and catchy. Yes , I was tensed at the thought of working with Mammookka but he was very supportive and easy to work with. So it was smooth sailing once it began. I have been receiving wonderful responses to the first look poster and I am feeling very happy, I believe in ‘perfect timing’.”
