An Air India flight carrying students evacuated from northeastern Ukrainian city Sumy landed in Delhi today at 5.45 a.m. It took off from Rzeszow around 11.30 p.m. (IST) India has sent three flights to bring back 600 students evacuated from Sumy.
According to information shared by the students, the first flight was for first, second and third year students, the second flight for fourth and fifth year students and the third is for those with pets, fifth and sixth year students and others who are left behind.
The Indian government is carrying out Operation Ganga to help stranded Indians to leave Ukraine. This operation began on Tuesday morning.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur received the students brought back safely from Ukraine. He thanked the airline crew and pilots for their support and service to bring back Indians stranded in Ukraine.
