Her best actress award at the State Film awards was dedicated to P K Rosy
The Best actress award at the 50th Kerala State Film Awards was bagged by Kani Kusruthi for her performance in the film Biriyani. Through her acceptance speech, she conveyed a request to the concerned authorities to present the best actress award in future in memory of P K Rosy, the first Malayalam actress. PK Rosy was also believed to be the first Dalit actress in Indian Cinema. She had to face a lot of discrimination because of her caste and her house was reportedly burnt down and she had to flee for her life.
Kani Kusruthi further posted on her Facebook page, “Proudly wearing Rihanna’s universal red lipstick from fenty beauty for the State award function.
