A walk to commemorate Indo-Russian friendship held on April 15 in Chennai

A walk to commemorate the long standing friendship between India and Russia was held on Saturday the 15th of April at Elliots Beach Besant Nagar, Chennai. It began at 7 am from Dindigul Thalappakatti Restaurant and went up till Murugan Idli Shop on the beach road, took a U turn and returned to the starting point.


It was organised by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Indo- Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Indo- Russian Film Club and Indo-Russian Cultural and Friendship Society. The walkathon was dedicated to the 76th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The walk was flagged off by Oleg Avdeev, the Consul General of the Russian Federation.
The date of the walk was by choice and not by chance as USSR was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with India on April 13, 1947
Around 100 people took part in this walk, held Indian and Russian flags and expressed their love and support for Indo-Russian friendship.
